Recommended in Wellington - [ see what's on in Wellington ]Restaurants You will find basic pizzerias, pub lunches and take-away Chinese at walking distance from POMPIDOU, but for finer dining we recommend you try Bar Bar Black Sheep in Riebeek Kasteel (20 minutes' drive), Noop in Paarl (15 minutes' drive) or Le Bon Vivant or SalmonBar in Franschhoek (30 minutes' drive). Seasons at Diemersfontein just outside Wellington also serves decent dishes with great views. The Stone Kitchen at Dunstone serves excellent dishes in a child friendly environment. Wine tasting Doolhof and Diemersfontein offer great public wine tasting venues. We also recommend a visit to Bosman Family Vineyards' 250 year old wine cellar.
Around Pompidou - Centrally located in Wellington (between Church and Bains Street - see map), you'll find the following at walking distance: shops, restaurants, take aways, all the major businesses and schools - including the University of Technology, the Breytenbach Sentrum (live shows, check out their programme here), the official tourist information office, fitness centra, doctors, banks, churches, video stores, liquor stores, etc. Go for a stroll down Wellington's attractive Bains or Berg Streets, or in the Uitsig residential area. Visit the historical NG Church or the Wellington Museum, or get lost in wine and brandy tasting along the Wellington Wine & Brandy Route. If you feel a bit stronger, you could even run or walk the popular Perdeskoen ("Horse Shoe") - a one-hour walk circular road through Wellington's vineyards -, browse the vineyards on horseback or hike in the Wellington mountains (guided tours). And then, of course, there is the famous Bain's Kloof - a massive mountain pass which takes you from Wellington to Ceres or Worcester.
